Later, it’s just a short drive into the Shropshire countryside where a beautifully converted Elizabethan cider farm is your home for the next two days. As evening falls, you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner featuring locally-sourced ingredients at a renowned local restaurant.

FAQ's

Common Questions

Got a different question? Our general FAQ page may have your answer. Or please get in touch if you need more information. We’re always happy to chat about Wales and help you prepare for your adventure with us.

How challenging are the walks?

The walks on this trip are moderately challenging, covering up to 8 miles per day. Keep in mind that Wales is known for its beautiful hills, so there will be some ups and downs along the way. Our walks follow footpaths that can be uneven underfoot. Don’t worry though – we can loan you hiking poles to make the walking easier, and our expert guides are always on hand to offer support.

You’ll find detailed information about each day’s hike on your final itinerary.

The best part? Since this is your private adventure, we can tailor the walks to suit your fitness level and preferences.

This trip is offered from mid April to mid October, with the best weather typically from May to September. May is a magical time to visit, with spring flowers in bloom and lambs playing in the fields. If you’re hoping to spot the colouful puffins on Skomer Island, plan your trip between April and July when these characterful birds are here for the breeding season. Keep in mind that UK schools break for summer in mid-July through August, so places will be busier than usual.

Whether you prefer to travel by train or drive, you’ll find Shrewsbury is well-connected to major UK cities. You might want to arrive a day early and explore this charming market town before your adventure begins. Once you’ve booked, we’ll be happy to send you all the travel details you need to plan your journey. We’re here to ensure your trip starts smoothly, so don’t hesitate to ask us any questions about getting here.

As this is a private tour, the group size is flexible. We recommend a maximum of 6 people for the best experience. But whether you’re planning a getaway for two or an active adventure with friends, we’re happy to accommodate your group.

As locals, we can offer an authentic Welsh experience that big international companies can’t match. We’ve personally walked the trails, eaten at the restaurants, and inspected every accommodation we recommend. Our local knowledge and connections mean you’ll enjoy experiences many visitors miss.

When you’re ready to book, just let us know, and we’ll check the availability for your preferred dates. To confirm your trip, we’ll ask for a deposit (typically 20% of the total cost). We use Stripe, a secure online payment system, so you can safely pay with your preferred credit card. Once that’s sorted, we’ll get to work making all the arrangements for your journey. We’ll also send you a quick questionnaire to learn about any dietary needs or special requests you might have.
